    2016 season

Does anyone know if we are going to be required to have a smartphone in our car utilizing the "Spotter" application for the March 2016 event?

    Thanks,
    Ken

Instead of "Spotter!", NASA NorCal is using a new app this year. It is called "TrackFlag". This one uses WiFi instead of cellular. Jerry Kunzman mentioned this app in his "Green Flag" column in the February NASA Speed News publication.

The person or persons that interact with NASA Tech will have to find out if we are required to run this app this year.

    Ken,

In the email just sent out by NASA NorCal, they say that TrackFlag is "Not mandatory yet, but strongly suggested". Also, they say the "Phone does not need to be on any plan, NASA NorCal is now supplying trackwide wifi for connecting to TrackFlag (no internet access)".

    There you go!
